Who We Are

Founded in July 2024, we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit rooted in the Pocahontas Island Historic District of Petersburg, Virginia. We work to strengthen resident engagement, preserve historic and cultural assets, promote environmental stewardship, and support community-informed revitalization.

Our work begins on Pocahontas Island, one of the nation’s oldest free Black communities, and extends across Petersburg through partnerships, public history, green space activation, cultural programming, and neighborhood advocacy. We bring residents, partners, and public resources together to help shape a stronger, safer, and more connected community.
